GOO.N Baby Diapers Passed My Absorbency Test and Beyond That

I am very excited to be selected to review this GOO.N diaper. Coincidentally, the usual brand that my son is using has ran out of stock in my neighboring hypermarket. So, this opportunity came just in time. And after using this for a few days now, I am very comfortable to stick to this brand.

GOO.N Tape - Excellent Dry

A Perfect Fit!

GOO.N diapers has higher absorbency which I've quickly noticed after using it on my 1 year old son for few days. The super lock system effectively absorbs liquid and prevent it from flowing back to the surface, resulting in the diaper being dry and comfortable all-day long.

Besides these 3 cute prints, there are varieties of prints which are equally cute.

Usually, my 1 year old son wears an XL size diaper but for GOO.N diapers, he's wearing an M size. GOO.N diaper M size is quite big, compared to the regular brand we used. It measured at approx. 8 inch in length.

Another obvious differences that I was quick to noticed is that these GOO.N diapers are much slimmer than the regular brand we used. This is a good reason for us to use GOO.N diapers for outing because we can pack more diapers in our diaper bag without having our bag to look too bulky.

To show the effectiveness of the absorbency, I've run a quick test on GOO.N diaper. As shown on the packaging, it can absorb 5 cups of liquid, so I prepared 5 cups/ glasses of liquid, with each cup/ glass containing 250ml of liquid, which means I have total of 1.25 liters of liquid. As a baker myself, a cup means 250ml. But never did I know that the cup mentioned refer to only 40ml of liquid and I only get to know about this after running the test.

No wonder it feels not right. As I was pouring the liquid, I was thinking, "how can a baby pee so much?"

However this 'mistake' has shown that GOO.N diapers has HIGH ABSORBENCY and can really absorb liquid, as much as over a liter of water without getting the outer diaper wet.

After 250ml of liquid;
equivalent to approx. 6 cups of liquid (1 cup = 40ml).

As I poured the first glass of liquid onto the diaper, the liquid was quickly absorbed into the soft cottony material.

After 250ml of liquid;
equivalent to approx. 6 cups of liquid (1 cup = 40ml).

With the paper towel on top of the diaper, I pressed my hand against it.

After 250ml of liquid;
equivalent to approx. 6 cups of liquid (1 cup = 40ml).

The diaper remained dry, and so does the paper towel.

NOTE:
By right, this is the end of the test. And it has proved what it has claimed on the packaging.
But because that I've mistakenly calculate the cup measurement, hence the rest of the test. Please note that the rest of this test is just for reference.

After 500ml of liquid;
equivalent to approx. 12 cups of liquid (1 cup = 40ml).

As I poured the second glass of liquid, the liquid was quickly absorbed into the soft cottony material but not as fast as previous test.

After 500ml of liquid;
equivalent to approx. 12 cups of liquid (1 cup = 40ml).

The diaper still felt dry (when touched with hand) but there were slight hint of wetness on the paper towel.

After 750ml of liquid;
equivalent to approx. 18 cups of liquid (1 cup = 40ml).

From the third glass of liquid onwards, it takes a few second to get all the liquid absorbed into the diaper.

After 750ml of liquid;
equivalent to approx. 18 cups of liquid (1 cup = 40ml).

The paper towel is starting to get wetter.

After 1000ml of liquid;
equivalent to 25 cups of liquid (1 cup = 40ml).

At this point, I was thinking if my baby has pee this much, I would have just changed a new diaper. But this is an absorbency test, so I diligently poured another 250ml of liquid onto the diaper.

After 1000ml of liquid;
equivalent to 25 cups of liquid (1 cup = 40ml).

The surface of the diaper was wet and so does the paper towel.

After 1250ml of liquid;
equivalent to approx. 31 cups of liquid (1 cup = 40ml).

As I poured the last glass, some of the water slides to the sides but was slowly absorbed into the diaper.

After 1250ml of liquid;
equivalent to approx. 31 cups of liquid (1 cup = 40ml).

The paper towel was fully wet at where my hand pressed.

This is after 1250ml of liquid being absorbed into the diaper. Even tho' it looked like it is going to explode but the liquid was well retained in the diaper.

The outer side of the diaper remained dry and there you can see the wetness sign on the two lines.
(Yellow lines = DRY, Green/ Blue lines = WET)

PROs'
1. GOO.N diapers are much more slimmer. (so that you can pack more diapers without getting a bulky bag)
2. GOO.N diapers has HIGH absorbency. (refer to my test above)
3. GOO.N diapers are softer. (even my hubby can noticed that)
4. GOO.N diapers has wetness sign on the outer diaper. (so that you don't have open up the diaper or touch the diaper to know the wetness)
5. GOO.N diapers remained dry and comfortable all-day long.

CONs'
1. The exterior of the diaper tends to be easily wears off after a few brushes against a wet hand. But this is not really an issue to me because it can be solved by wearing a pants over the diaper. The regular brand that we used will also have the same issue.

Bayers Belgian Waffle Maker Review and The Best Belgian Waffle Recipe

This is my first time being poisoned by someone over the internet to purchase something, and making a purchase within 24 hours. It started with seeing Mommy Celine T of DHM sharing her newly bought Bayers Belgian Waffle Maker that she has bought from Lazada at RM40.00. "Hey, this is a good deal!", I thought, "but how is the product performance? How does the waffle looks like, thick or thin?"

Being a skeptical and eager ME, i turned to Mr.Google for quick info. Read up few good reviews about it HERE and HERE, but none show me how does a cooked waffle from this maker looks like. And then came the answer I was looking for, in the comment thread at Mommy Celine T's post.

Mommy SookLu Y commented that she is using this maker. So I quickly bugged her with my questions. She was very helpful at replying them within minutes in which she shared her experiences and even photos of her waffles. Exactly what I wanted to know! Her thick-looking waffles then convinced me to go for it. Hence, just minute after thanking her, I placed my order at Lazada. The price has increased tho', I had mine at RM49.90. Not too bad, it is still a good deal, right!

And so, few days later, I received my new toy! Tadaa...!! My Bayers Belgian Waffle Maker WM-20.

Before I open the box, something caught my attention. It was the slogan on the box - "Perfect Waffles Every Time!" Oh, I can't wait to make my waffles. *excited*

Upon opening the box, I can smell the 'new gadget' odor already. It's the smell that makes you even more excited and jump in excitement. (You get what I meant, right?)

Lazada remained my favorite online shopping website because of its speedy delivery and as far as I know, Lazada is the only one that offers 'cash on delivery' (for certain items).

The Bayers WM-20 came with a 4-pages User Manual. If you are buying this maker, please do take your time to read the manual. It contained a lot of relevant and useful information, including a Classic Waffle recipe. I think this is the first time I read a manual from cover to cover.

Covered fully in white, Bayers WM-20 has a red indicator and a green indicator light. Red to indicate that the power in on, while green to indicate that the heating is on.

It can open up to slightly over 90° creating a slanting 'L' shape from side view.

I would say it is quite stable as it does not fall back when i move the waffle maker around.

As I explored further, I was very happy with this waffle maker. The hinges were quite sturdy, moving only somewhat less than 0.5cm (sideways).

The non-stick plates has higher grids pattern to form deep pockets for housing those yummy syrup, butter or toppings. Slurp!

The waffle plates are attached to the body so there is no need to disassemble the maker for cleaning. Just brush off any loose crumbs and wipe with damp cloth.

Supposedly the cool-touch handles were to stay cool throughout the baking. But it got too hot to handle right after the first preheating. I had to use an oven glove to open the lid. However it is not a big issue. Just got to be more careful.

There is no locking system between the top plate and bottom plate. I was quite worried about this at first but when I make my waffle, i found that there is no need to lock those plates together. It still makes perfect waffles!

Here's a view of the bottom part - clean and neat.

For first time using, as what the manual said, the waffle maker may emit a slight smoke or odor. This is normal but it may affect the flavor of the waffle. So I had my first set of waffle discarded.

If you are new to waffle maker, just like me, do remember to preheat the waffle maker first before pouring your batter to make your first waffle of the day. Spray some oil onto the plates and close the maker. Plug in the power and wait for the green indicator light to turn off. Then you may start making your waffles.

It is crucial to read the manual because it tells you step by step how to make Golden, Crispy Waffles using this model. I've followed every instructions and my waffle came out looking superb at first try!

It was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Overall, I am very happy with my Bayers Belgian Waffle Maker WM-20.

BEST BELGIAN WAFFLE
(Recipe adapted from Bayers Belgian Waffle Maker's Manual)

Prep Time  : 15 mins
Cook Time : 6 mins
Total Time : 21 mins
Makes       : 2 belgian waffles

Ingredients:
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs, separated
1 Tbsp castor sugar
200ml milk
1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
55g unsalted butter, melted

Directions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, sift in all-purpose flour, cornstarch and baking powder. Add in salt and set aside.

2. In another medium bowl, whisk egg yolks, milk and vanilla extract till combined. Using a spatula, stir the milk mixture into the flour mixture until the dry ingredients are moistened. There should still be small lumps but it is all right. Stir in melted butter.

3. In a mixer bowl, whisk egg whites until soft peak. Gradually add in sugar and continue to beat until stiff peak. Fold in the egg whites to the previous batter until combined.

4. Pour batter onto the preheated greased waffle maker and bake for 3-6 minutes to your liking. (I've baked for 3 minutes using 2 scoops of batter)

5. Cool slightly on wire rack before serving to retain its crispiness.

Notes:
● Do not over mix the batter or else it will turn hard when baked.

● Be generous with your batter. Put at least 2-3 heaping scoops of batter to make thick waffle.

Penang Assam Laksa Instant Noodle - Hao Way

If you love to eat Penang Assam Laksa, then I would highly recommend that you check out this new instant noodle by Hao Way. It is the closest thing you can get to the real ones (in terms of you only needed to cook this in less than 4 minutes). Definitely an INSTANT Assam Laksa noodle!

One pack of 4 packets @ RM6.99 (promo price)
Bought these at Redtick.com Supermarket at SetiaWalk, Puchong.

Individually Packed
It comes with individually packed noodle and soup paste. There are tiny or I should say, mashed fish meats in the soup paste. Once you open the soup paste packet, you can immediately notice the intense fishy and prawn paste smell.

A Yummylicious Bowl of Penang Assam Laksa Noodle
In less than 4 minutes, you can enjoy your Penang Assam Laksa noodle anytime of the day you wanted. For freshness, you may add some cucumbers and onions.
(I don't like onions, therefore I did not put.)

For more awesomeness, you may add some pineapples and gingerbud flower/ bunga kantan. You may also add a small piece of assam keping to enhance the flavor, as I personally don't think the sourish from the soup paste is sufficient. You may also substitute the noodle with lai fun/ laksa noodle (if you want).

Haha... with the additional works, now it doesn't sounds like an instant noodle, does it? Don't worry, it will only takes you an additional 5-10 minutes. And it is only if you wanted to take this instant noodle to the next level.

Warning!
Be sure to cook this with your exhaust fan on to clear off the fishy smell or else you will end up with your whole house smelling like assam laksa.
