Set Lunch @ SK2, Bandar Puteri Puchong

If you are around Bandar Puteri area, and you are not sure what to have for lunch, you might want to consider SK2, a simple restaurant with affordable set lunch, ranging from RM10.50 - RM18.90. They have Rice Set, Curry Rice Set and Noodle Set. Each set comes with an Iced Lemon Tea.

My hubby and I have just finished doing some errands around that area when we stumbled upon this cozy lil' restaurant. Not wanting to go any further looking for food, we decided to give it a try. You never know when you will find a gem in the sands, right?

Haha...Tho' this SK2 Restaurant is not a gem, it is still a good comfy restaurant to patronize.

My hubby regretted ordering this. Later only did he realized there are Butter Chicken Milk Rice Set or Marmite Chicken Rice Set in the menu. Those were his favourites dishes and we saw the next table ordering these, it looks really appetizing.

Iced Lemon Tea

Fish Head Meehoon Soup @ RM9.50
Rating: 3/5
I ordered an ala carte. Those who loves salted mustard greens like me, would love this bowl of noodle soup. Packed with lots of salted mustard greens and deep fried fish, it is something that I would re-order.

Nothing beats a refreshing coconut juice on a hot day!

Mamee Chef Instant Noodle - Lontong Flavour

Have you guys heard of the new Mamee Chef flavour? It is one of our local favourite dishes, called Lontong. The new Lontong flavour is awesome and its new improved technology gives out a more springy noodles than the previous 'already so-good' springy noodles. It fits right to be in the Putra Brand Awards - 'The People's Choice' in Foodstuff category.

Yes, I know. With the video of the man who can't burn the instant noodles went viral, alot of peoples has stopped eating instant noodle. But my two cents is, it is okay to eat instant noodles once a while. Just don't let the younger kids consume it!

Mamee Chef Instant Noodle - Lontong Flavour
@ RM6.19*/ 5pkts

*Current retail price at Tesco.

New Flavour In Town! ~ LONTONG
Rating: 3.8/5
The taste is almost like curry laksa, with the same creamy texture but not as spicy as curry laksa. I am rating it a 3.8 out of 5 because I still think that Mamee Chef Tom Yam Flavour is better!

However, my hubby prefers this one better than the Tom Yam flavour. I think that is just simply because he lurvee to eat lontong... LOL.

Mamee Chef Instant Noodle - Creamy Tom Yam Flavour

I lurvee Tom Yam! In the past, I've tried cooking Tom Yam to the taste that we've tried in Bangkok and finally, after a few attempts, I was able to achieved the similar Tom Yam taste. That was cooking from scratch, of course!

Now, with the new Mamee Chef Tom Yam Instant Noodle, I am able to enjoy Tom Yam in minutes! It was lurvee at first taste! And definitely one of the best instant noodle - tom yam flavor I've ever tried.

One pack of 5 packets @ RM5.99

Extra ingredients for the extra kicks!
Don't worry about not having the extra ingredients. The instant noodle comes with a small packet of dried shrimps and vege which is enough to satisfy your appetite.

Yummy~licious Tom Yam Noodle
Rating : 4/5
(Comparing with other Tom Yam Instant Noodles)
Subtle creamy tom yam taste with springy noodle... yumm...

Happy Friday, peeps!

Goreng Kuey Teow Tong Shin, Bandar Puteri Puchong

Have you ever been to Puchong before? Puchong is one of the major town in Petaling district and it has developed tremendously over the years! Hypermarkets, residential areas, commercial buildings... you can see all these has developed and is developing in this area. It has also become a well known Food Paradise for many foodies! Even tho' I've been living in this area for almost 5 years now but there are so many new restaurants that we've never been to. New restaurants keeps opening, and there just aren't enough days for us to try one by one.

Today, I'm going to blog about a new restaurant that we went to 2 months back. It is located in Bandar Puteri Puchong, called Goreng Kuey Teow Tong Shin (Tong Shin Fried Kuey Teow). We love fried kuey teow. It is one of our favourite hawker foods.

Clean & tidy ambiance with old kopitiam deco interior.

The Menu
Besides their specialty, they also offers Prawn Mee and Lam Mee on the menu, not to mention there are also a few side dishes like the popiah.

Popiah @ RM3.80
Rating: 2.5/5

Fried CKT with Fried Egg @ RM6.50/ small plate
Rating: 2/5
The fried CKT was lacked of 'Wok Hei'/ Wok Breath. Even tho' my version of CKT was also lack of 'Wok Breath' but my hubby said my CKT is even better than this one.

Prawn Mee @ RM5.50/ small bowl
Rating: 2.5/5

Overall, the dining experience was somewhat all right, credit all given to the good ambiance. The food is only so-so. If you see us coming back here again, it would be because of the ambiance. But I doubt that we would come here again!

Nissin Instant Bowl Noodles - XO Sauce & Roasted Beef

My hubby & I just had instant noodles feast for dinner. Unlike the experience we had with INA Instant Noodle - Oriental Seafood yesterday; thank goodness, today was way better. A lot way better! And i have to say these are among the top list in our instant noodles category.

Nissin Noodle 1Nissin Noodle 2

My hubby had the XO Sauce Seafood Flavour while i had the Roasted Beef Flavour. We added some crab sticks and sausages for extra bites. Both our picks were yummy~licious! Noodles were springy and the soups were flavourful. This time, we are so proud of our buys!

XO Sauce
XO Sauce Seafood Flavour @ RM5.90/ bowl
For those who do not know, XO Sauce is made of roughly chopped dried scallops, dried fish, and shrimp and cooked with chili peppers, onions, garlic, and oil. It was once a prestigious concoction used in chinese cuisine, but now you can find it in supermarkets as premade sauce.

Roasted Beef
Roasted Beef Flavour @ RM5.50/ bowl
A flavourful bowl of noodle beef soup with a hint of spiciness.

Next time you do your groceries, remember to pick some of these home. You'll love them!

INA Instant Noodle - Oriental Seafood Pan Mee

Instant noodles are great when it comes to late night supper. It's also quick fixes to the growling tummies when we are at our 'Lounging Around Moments'! That's why we will always make sure that we will not run out of stocks in this category.

While my hubby and i were doing our groceries recently, we saw this new product - INA instant noodles on shelves. They looked quite appetizing but the price is abit on the high side. A packet of 5 cost you approx. RM15 RM11. If on normal occasion, we would not buy it. But that day, we were in our 'Support Local Products' mood, so we bought a packet home. There are 5 individual packets in assorted flavors; Oriental Seafood Pan Mee, Original Pan Mee, Sambal Udang Pan Mee Goreng, Yee Mee and Tomyam Ramen.

We tried the Oriental Seafood Pan Mee. Cooking time was abit longer than my usual 4 mins. It took me almost doubled the time to ensure that the pan mee noodles are cooked thoroughly. Taste was bland. Noodles were unevenly cooked because some strands were too thick. We were filled with remorse after tasting the noodles. Should have bought 4 cups of Nissin Seafood Noodles instead!

Two Taiwanese Food Products And Korean Noodle Recalled For Tests

If you're a consumer of Taiwanese or Korean food products, please pay attention to this. Recently, Health Ministry has ordered Delitea Sdn Bhd to recall two Taiwanese food products after the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that 'Strawberry Pudding Powder' and 'Strawberry Pudding' - manufactured by Signwin Food Enterprise, Taiwan, were suspected of being contaminated with bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP).

Health Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said that Korean noodles 'Shin Ramen' had also been recalled due to suspicion of having excessive amounts of the cancer-causing plastic addictives di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and di-isononyl phthalate (DINP).
“We urge consumers to stop eating the noodles which they have bought until the tests by our ministry show that they are free from these contaminants,” Liow said on Saturday.
For further information including on the list of food products involved from Taiwan, you can read about it in these websites, http://moh.gov.my or http://fsq.moh.gov.my

Exposure to DEHP has produced a range of adverse effects in laboratory animals. Of greatest concern are the effects on the development of the male reproductive system and the production of normal sperm in young animals.

UPDATES (14 JUNE 2011):
Health Ministry said that Korean Noodles 'Shin Ramen' is SAFE for consumption after being tested that it does not contain carcinogen di-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP).
